Fighting OCD with a 2-year old is definitely a learning experience, one that I have to take day-by-day.
I don’t do “mess” well. I like to have everything clean and tidy, dishes washed, freshly swept and mopped, and vacuum daily (usually twice, admittedly).
But, sometimes the mess JUST needs to wait. It doesn’t mean I won’t clean it up today, but in the moment, sometimes I need to be present.
Boo-boos need to be kissed first.
Hugs, kisses, and arms wrapped around my neck definitely need to be treasured in the moment.
Coloring together, giggling, and making playdough snakes must be my priority.
When my toddler grabs my hand and says “please, mommy” and starts taking me to a destination he is clearly excited about definitely has to come first.
Cuddling up on the couch together with his favorite book has to come first.
It’s not always easy for me to choose what comes first, but today, I am definitely reminded that these moments are his foundation and our lasting memories — so for this moment, THE MESS CAN WAIT.
Maybe you needed the reminder today, too, that the mess CAN wait.
(PS - this room was destroyed in under 10 minutes. Kids are impressive.)
Welcome to a place where we can be raw and authentic with one another. Sometimes you just need a Mommy Moment - a place to be encouraged, a place of quiet where you can drink your cold cup of coffee and pray it's stronger than your toddler, a place where you can shove that brownie in your mouth before the little humans see it, a place where you can admit how difficult but how remarkably rewarding it is to raise tiny humans. ♥️✨
